Music has a unique way of touching many different lives. The power and majesty of God, the loving and forgiving Savior, and the gentle and inspiring Holy Spirit are manifested in hymns and spiritual songs.
The music ministry at FUMC is very strong and offers many opportunities for everyone to find a place. Participating in the music ministry is a way that one can serve their church. There are several different choirs for all ages. These groups meet in the Beulah K. Flowers Music Suite located on the third floor in room #300.
Adult Chancel Choir - This choir meets each Wednesday night at 7:00 pm. They perform a wide variety of music. Several members participate in sextets, ensembles, trios and solos. The Choir participates in the 10:55 am worship services of the Church and in special services throughout the year. ***For the summer Chancel choir will meet at 6:00 PM.
Handbell Choir - This choir meets on Wednesdays at 5:15 pm. They perform in the 10:55 am worship service at least quarterly.
Children’s Music - The Children's Choir is for children PreK through 6th grade. They meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 6:45 September thru April. This group meets in the Fellowship Hall for a snack supper at 5:30 and then in the Choir suite for music.
Rachel Wood is the music director. Polly Grimes is the organist. Judy Staggers is the pianist.
FUMC will participate in the Community Patriotic Program at First Baptist Church on Sunday, June 25 at 6:00PM. Anyone is welcome to join us for this performance. Practices will be held on Thursday, June 15 and Wednesday, June 21 at 6:00PM at First Baptist Church.
